In addition to the Mid Wales Open and Senior Leagues we have the Tarmac Mixed League and a number of Friendly Matches throughout the season.
Senior League The latest good news Congratulations. We have won the Senior League, quite an achievment for our small club We knew it was possible but it was not achieved until the last game of all which we needed to win and Llandrindod to lose as we were one point behind. Rob,Cliff, Luther and Fred R played the last game at Llandrindod against The Spartans and Llandrindod played Brecon. A fantastic result and well deserved as the team had worked hard throughout the season. Well done Lads.
Congratulations to Rob Williams and Darren Ricketts upon winning the Final of the Mid Wales open pairs competition. As you all know this meant they would compete in the National Championships held at Llandrindod Wells during the week beginning Sunday 11th Aug Their game began at 10 am on Monday the 12th and a number of us went from Hay to support them, They played a pair from Cardigon (C. James & K. James) We watched a game of two halves, the first half was dominated by the Cardigan pair but as the game progressed our boys gained strength and pulled back 25 to 21 shots losing by just 4 shots. It was an excellent game enjoyed by all of us and we felt had there been a couple more ends the result would have been different. Well done Robert & Darren.
Also Congratulations to Cliff who was runner up in the Mid Wales senior singles competition after a very close hard match. To Nita, Iola and Pearl for winning through to the Semi Finals of the Mid Wales Three wood Triples and to Colin, Fred R, Luther, Mike B for reaching the final of the of th Mid Wales Senior Fours. Well done all of you.
Just to complete our success story for 2013 --Having won the Hay Veteran League we were nominated for the Senior team of the year award (Brecknock and Radnor Sports Partnership) which took place at the Annual Sports Personality Awards held at the Pavilion Llandrindod Wells on the 7th March 2014. There were three nominees in our category (Senior team of the year) and guess what, we won, so once again Congratulations to the Veterans.
Following our success in 2013 Veteran League we were delighted to once again win this competition after a very hard struggle, congratulations to the team members who took part in this very competitive league.

HAY-ON- WYE BOWLING CLUB 14TH ANNUAL TOUR.
This year members of Hay-on-Wye bowling Club together with members from Talgarth, Brecon, Builths Wells and Knighton Bowling Clubs travelled to Warwickshire for their annual bowling break staying at the Glebe Hotel in Barford our Clubhouse for the week. Our coach driver for the week , Andrew Ritchie from Herdman Coaches looked after us well.
First stop Snitterfield Bowling Club near Stratford-upon Avon where we were all welcomed into the Sports Club where a wonderful cold buffet had been set out. Following this a six rink match took place between the tourers and Snittfield Bowling Club, Snitterfield won the match by Seven Shots.
On Tuesday the morning was spent in the beautiful town of Leamington Spa and an afternoon visit to Lillington Bowling Club for a six rink competition. The match was a closely fought battle with Lillington finally winning by Sixteen Shots.
Wednesday was a free day with the options of visiting either Straford-upon-Avon or Warwick Castle. An eight rink match was played against Stoke Bowling Club on Thursday after our visit to Coventry to see the old bombed Cathedral and the new Cathedral side by side. Stoke won this match by Forty Four Shots
Friday after saying farewell to the staff at the Glebe Hotel we set out for our final game with Bournville Bowling Club. After shopping in the Chocolate Shop it was back on the Greens. This was a close run game with a win for the Tourers by just Two Shots. After the game fish and chips were delivered and enjoyed before making our way back home.
We had a great welcome from all Clubs we visited and Catain Darren our Captain for the week did an excellent job working out teams and generally organising us.
We are proud at Hay Bowls Club to have a member - namely Robert Williams to take up the
